Frobby
Roch has a long blog post filled with quotes from Elias, addressing many points we’ve talked about here. On Jahmai Jones: Anytime you’re on the 40-man and you’re in Triple-A you’re very close, you’re a moment away from being called upon, and that could happen,” Elias said. “But he is a young guy, he is still someone who is making a major position change and he’s still working on things like that. We’re thrilled with his performance thus far and the way he’s controlled the strike zone and the consistency with producing and getting on base, and basically batting in the three hole every night for Norfolk, and so that’s been fun to see and his time will come. “We’re enough of a believer in his bat and his talent that when he comes up we want it to be a successful debut and, hopefully, one that would not require him to go back down, so that takes some time. He hadn’t really played in Triple-A yet at all until this season because of the pandemic, and we’re trying to do right by him.” On Rutschman: There are a multitude of success stories in the system this year, headed by catcher Adley Rutschman, who’s going to be promoted to Triple-A later in the summer. His two-homer, seven-RBI game Wednesday night made a mockery of what constitutes a slump in his world. “He’s impressing a lot of people and the industry in Double-A,” Elias said. “It’s exactly what we’re hoping to see.” So, when does he move up another level? An exact date doesn’t exist, but Elias said, “I definitely think it’s something to keep an eye on and something that we’re keeping an eye on on a daily basis.” Much stuff on our struggling young pitchers in the majors, Lowther, Diaz etc. Also whether Mancini could get traded https://www.masnsports.com/school-of-roch/2021/07/elias-on-pitching-prospects-diaz-jones-rutschman-and-trades.html 1
jabba72
Looks like Elias is beginning to understand that sp's need to have success first in AAA before they have any chance in the majors. Might as well promote Grayson, Hall, Baumann and Knight and get the process started there. They likely aren't going to learn much more in Bowie. Rutchsman sounds like he could be promoted any day. Jones just isnt solid with the glove but the bat at least is near ready.

yark14
The only logical sense for Adley to still be in AA is if they were prioritizing him learning a second position. However, he only plays 1B about once a week.

HowAboutThat
So he talks for 20 minutes but gives you 30 seconds of answers. He apparently said not a word about Jones’ defense, So that must not be a worry. I don’t suppose anybody asked him why Harvey was still around? I don't think Adley is going to be promoted to the majors, barring a change to the CBA, until after the O's secure a 7th year of team control. That's easier to do if he isn't in Norfolk putting up big numbers in July.

Moose Milligan
Elias has his black belt in being available to the press, answering questions while at the same time saying absolutely nothing. It's not even a black belt, it's like a higher level. Basically, he's like Bruce LeRoy from The Last Dragon, he's got The Glow when it comes to answering questions and not giving anything away.

Dan was the king of saying nothing, but Mike has a way of doing it without you wanting to punch him. 1
