The funny part is that we have 3 other teams not far off from us.  They could win less than 60 games and pick 3rd or 4th.

And that's why the strategy gets less effective for each team that employs it.

At least the owners still get the benefit of a greatly reduced payroll.

Better get one Tuesday or Thursday if we don't want to end up tying the record.

Rays in town Friday and you can chalk that one up as a loss.  Could be #22.

I don't want OUR record! I want the all-time ML record! 26. Or 27 to break it. Angels and Rays could get us a LOT closer to it.

The modern ML record is 23. We could get that...

The deal-breaker may have been the Orioles' insistence that Ohtani start in AA and brought along slowly, getting to the majors only after he showed that he was fully ready. ☺️

I’d love to see a link for that. I remember Angelos being against paying the posting fee. They were never in on any players who were posted by NPB.

One of the many ways he shortchanged the franchise.

I bought tickets 3 months ago to take my wife to the game this Saturday against the Rays, and it will be her first game at Oriole Park.  We are coming all the way from Texas, and it looks like we might have a chance at seeing us tie the modern record for futility.  Not what we envisioned when we bought them, but it might be historic nonetheless!

I have tickets to the game Ohtani is pitching.   Very excited to see him.

Doom and gloom about the Orioles aside, Ohtani is some thing baseball hasn’t seen in 100 years.

He’s amazing, and he seems to be humble and modest about it: he’s not a Reggie Jackson, “I am the straw that stirs the drink” kind of guy.

BTW, F Reggie Jackson…

I wish I were going to, what part of Texas are you in? I’m in north Texas in a little town called Plano.

BTW Usually I hate days off, but today I don’t care. I just hope Spencer Watkins pitches with better luck tomorrow. He’s been squeezed by the umpire and let down by the defense, And we can sacrifice a couple of chickens to insure that doesn’t happen tomorrow.

Hasnt been 100 years yet.

Did you forget Babe Ruth?

He was pitching through the 20s and even pitched 9 innings in 1930 and 1933.
