OK, we have a lead and we have 4 innings to cover.   Our options:

Wells -- 9th inning.  He didn't throw many pitches last night.   Seems obvious.

That leaves 3 innings.  Our choices are:

  • Try to get another inning out of Akin
  • 1 or more innings out of Lopez
  • Fry for an inning
  • Scott for an inning 2nd day in a row (13 p last night)
  • Sulser for an inning 2nd day in a row (18p last night)
  • Tate for an inning 2nd day in a row (19p last nigth)

What's your call.  How do you cover the 6th thru the 8th, assuming we all agree on Wells for the 9th.

I would let Akin begin the inning with a reliever ready.

However now that Severino has taken his swing, I give Akin the whole inning.

Send Akin out for the 6th and have someone up. I’m not taking him out for a hit that’s not hot hard, anything else including a walk, pull him.

Scott in relief. Lopez for a clean 7th-

Doesn’t matter now.

Hahaha yeah I was making my comment at the same time, ha ha Ha.

akin for the seventh and then let Lopez finish. Don’t use anyone who pitches last night including Wells. A 6 run cushion allows for some slip from the relievers, so Lopez/Greene or Greene/Lopez

That’s a four-door hardtop. Noticed there’s no center pillar between the front and back seat. My grandparents had a 70-71(?)Oldsmobile 98 I think it was that was also a four-door hardtop, they gave it away in about 1983 and it only had about 30,000 miles on it oh gosh was I annoyed.

You may be right, but if you are throwing a lot of pitches it’s because players are succeeding in fouling them off, so he’s not throwing deceptively enough to fool them, and he’s not throwing hard enough to blow it past them, and he’s not throwing with enough movement to induce weak contact? I don’t know how a guy induces weak contact but Britton did it like clockwork.

He had 6 SO in 5 IP. His FB can be plus at time w a higher spin rate.

I’m not a big believer in CERA, but I’d love to see if a catcher who's a better receiver and better at sequencing than Severino would help.

I don’t necessarily think he’s destined for the BP either. He could be a serviceable back end guy.
