Let me take this opportunity to Say again how much I despise seventh inning games.

You are not alone.  Really cheapens baseball, and reminds me of some competition I played in at the high school level.  For people who cannot get enough of baseball,   it is a real let down.

I'm the same on placing the runner on 2B in extra innings, from a purist standpoint... But BOY does it make an exciting game out of it! I have to admit I like it.

Yea I was against both at first but no need for bullpen depleting 18 inning games (or rare when it would happen) and it does add intrigue.   But the 7 inning games suck!

Kramer, not good today but serviceable and did not lose the game

I wouldn’t call giving up 5 runs in 4 innings serviceable unless we had the best offense in baseball. The fact that he didn’t lose the game (one of the more painful games to watch this year) had little to do with his performance. He missed a few spots *badly*, like Severino setting up low and inside and Kremer leaves it hanging over the middle at the top of the zone  — which of course got crushed for a homer. I thought he looked terrible today.

    • Can you imagine that same lineup but with Mayo, instead of Urias, at 3rd?  🙂
    • Good summary. This would be my guess as well. Won't stop people from repeating proposals that make no sense and then getting mad when they don't happen.
    • Toronto up 8-1, hate rooting for the Jays. They blew a 5 run lead last night and got destroyed. No matter the results, the Yankees pitching has regressed badly.
    • Your logic totally eludes me.    He was excellent last year.  He has been excellent in May and June this year.   He’s not the same pitcher he was in 2022 and before with the Orioles.
    • The end of the first half of the season also marks the end of the third 27-game segment.   Here's how our players have done in each segment:  [Note: I am editing this to get the columns lined up right, so come back later if this looks funky] Name PA rWAR Rdrs OPS fWAR OAA wOBA xwOBA Rutschman 119 1.2 2 0.816 0.9 1.2 0.361 0.383 226 2.0 2 0.815 1.7 1.2 0.353 0.343 348 3.4 5 0.830 2.9 6 0.359 0.346 Mountcastle 103 1.1 1 0.906 0.6 -3 0.393 0.395 205 1.3 3 0.788 0.8 -2 0.342 0.342 319 1.9 4 0.786 1.1 -5 0.339 0.351 Henderson 124 1.8 0 0.959 1.9 2 0.408 0.389 243 3.7 5 0.938 3.3 3 0.399 0.390 367 6.0 5 1.002 6.0 7 0.428 0.398 Westburg 101 1.4 1 0.903 1.3 1 0.394 0.422 209 2.3 2 0.859 2.2 4 0.373 0.374 312 3.0 4 0.853 2.6 5 0.364 0.362 Cowser 80 1.0 0 1.037 1.4 3 0.439 0.390 177 0.9 1 0.772 1.7 6 0.337 0.365 253 1.3 1 0.768 2.2 6 0.332 0.362 Mullins 100 0.7 1 0.717 0.7 2 0.311 0.304 173 0.1 -1 0.564 -0.1 1 0.249 0.244 250 1.1 1 0.664 0.8 3 0.288 0.269 Santander 113 0.3 0 0.728 0.3 1 0.319 0.302 209 0.6 1 0.706 0.4 0 0.311 0.293 322 1.4 -2 0.796 1.4 -2 0.341 0.322 O'Hearn 71 0.7 0 0.929 0.7 0 0.403 0.502 154 1.1 1 0.802 0.9 2 0.347 0.398 240 1.7 1 0.807 1.4 1 0.349 0.382 Hays 50 -0.8 -1 0.311 -0.7 -1 0.149 0.286 80 -0.9 -3 0.430 -0.7 -1 0.194 0.266 132 0.0 -2 0.686 0.1 -2 0.300 0.312 Urias 44 -0.1 0 0.484 -0.3 -1 0.215 0.214 68 0.3 1 0.608 0.0 -1 0.272 0.295 131 0.3 1 0.649 0.9 -3 0.286 0.297 McCann 43 0.0 -1 0.651 0.0 -0.3 0.284 0.323 83 -0.3 -2 0.501 -0.4 -0.9 0.217 0.289 119 -0.3 -2 0.551 -0.3 0.3 0.240 0.301 Mateo 39 0.3 0 0.733 0.3 -1 0.328 0.292 119 1.3 5 0.734 1.0 1 0.317 0.305 169 1.3 2 0.729 1.0 0 0.311 0.286 Holliday 36 -0.5 -1 0.170 -0.3 3 0.089 0.155 36 -0.5 -1 0.170 -0.3 3 0.089 0.155 36 -0.5 -1 0.170 -0.3 3 0.089 0.155 Kjerstad 5 -0.1 0 0.000 -0.1 0 0.000 0.057 17 0.0 1 0.437 -0.1 0 0.143 0.229 29 0.3 1 0.745 0.1 0 0.334 0.269 Stowers (2) 19 0.1 -1 0.924 0.1 0 0.388 0.448 36 0.1 0 0.763 0.1 1 0.321 0.370
    • What date is that? I feel they both may.
    • Good heavens, why didn’t you understand that? When he was with us before he was terrible.you can see his walk rate was never good with us. I was overjoyed when we traded him to the Marlins, and except for last year,  he was a headache with them too.  So I am concerned, and with reason, that if we buy him back, he will again be bad with us, so no thanks.
