What’s your dream configuration of the Orioles infield, within reason (no Holliday!) versus what you expect next August?

1B - It's going to be Mountcastle

2B - Westburg

SS - Trey Turner

3B - Gunnar

Dream configuration would likely include a FA.  Hard to predict that.  From within the organization, I'm expecting Mountcastle (1B), Vavra (2B), Gunnar (SS), Westburg (3B) at this time next year.  Mateo as the utility IF.

Mountcastle is maybe the easier one to upgrade at 1B, but I am pretty against signing FA 1B long-term for basically the rest of eternity.

Dream scenario wouldn’t have a Mountcastle or Mateo in it, at least for me.

KC has arguably 2 of the top 5 first base prospects and they are ML ready.  Maybe get one of them?

I'd rather not trade for a 1B while Mountcastle is still making the minimum.

I don't think difference in value is going to be that significant to be worth trading for.

I can see that..it just depends on what you can do with Mountcastle.  Can he be a piece used to get a starting pitcher?  Can you get one of the first baseman for pieces you can “spare”?

The question was about a dream scenario.  A dream scenario for me is trading Mountcastle and upgrading him.

I don’t mind that he’s here though..just not a dream scenario.
