I'm glad to see we just aren't sitting back when there are moves that can be made that cost little in dollars and prospects.  Hopefully, Aguilar can channel his inner Delmon Young the rest of the year.  

 

At least Elias is trying.  I tip my hat to him.  

 

Iron sharpens iron.  Mountcastle and Odor are guaranteed nothing at this point.

Can Aguilar play 2B?  

Statcast is a big woof!  Expected OPACY HRs is a woeful 10...  Bad EV, sub-.300 Babip, bad K% with a worse BB%.  Career splits vs. lefties isn't bad, but 2022 it's worse than against righties...  Age caught up with him as he can't get around on the FB when he's got to look for other stuff.

Only real shot at success is:

1. Growth on swing decision/pitch identification (i.e. Baltimore player development is better than Miami player development)

2. Pinch hitting with men on base where he can look FB more often.  He has a +40% HH% against the 4-seamer, cutter, and sinker.  But none have a significant run value.

He swings at everything ….A true strikeout machine. Other than the occasional homerun he could be worse than Odor.
