How do you think the O’s will use Hall?

It looks like DL Hall will be called up today and will have a bullpen spot the rest of the year.  Question is, how will they use him?  Will he be a guy they bring in for late inning, high leverage situations?   More of a middle relief guy?   Or will he be a mop up man who’s asked to throw a few innings in games we are losing?

At least for now, I don’t see Hyde trusting Hall in high leverage situations unless he’s out of options.   We all know Hall has talent, but he’s been very erratic over the last six weeks and I don’t see Hyde playing Russian roulette with Hall the way he used to with Tanner Scott.  I think he starts out in low leverage situations but could move up the pecking order if guys like Baker and Krehbiel continue to look like they’re slipping.

The Tanner Scott analogy is a good one and I'm glad Hyde has experience managing that type of pitcher. We'll see what he's learned from it.

I think they ease him at first and see how he responds.

I question him being here to begin with and I just can’t see how you feel confident with him in high leverage situations right now.

Even his last outing where he only walked 1 and gave up no runs or hits wasn’t that great.  Took him 27 pitches to get 4 outs and he threw less than 60% of his pitches for strikes.

I think Hyde will pick his spots as much as possible. Mainly middle innings and low leverage.

There may be spots where his K stuff is needed. Even with the risk of walks. At times lately Akin has been nicked to death. I don’t like bringing him in with runners on base. He isn’t getting enough K’s. Of course the flip side is Hall walks runners and makes matters worse.

I think he will be as close to a LOOGY as possible. Just come in and blow away this lefty to finish the inning out.
