I genuinely hope that once ownership feel it’s time for “liftoff” that they also invest more money on the MASN front. Send the broadcast team to all games, broadcast more ST games, do a proper pre- and post-game show, pay for on-air talent. It’s part and parcel of engaging the fan base. Some of their cost-cutting measures the past few years were frankly embarrassing.

I feel like real liftoff won't happen till there's new ownership,  I'm afraid this ownership is going to handicap success at every level.

Still waiting for MASN to officially release their ST broadcast schedule, but the MLB TV schedule shows some games on O's radio and one on TV. Several teams have already released their TV/radio schedules. Here's a list of every O's game I've found so far that will be broadcast on either TV or radio:

Sat 2/25 (1pm) vs Twins in Sarasota (O's radio)

Sun 2/26 (1pm) at Tigers in Lakeland (O's radio and Tigers radio)

Wed 3/1 (1pm) vs Blue Jays in Sarasota (SportsNet radio or live stream audio on sportsnet.ca)

Thur 3/2 (1pm) at Tigers in Lakeland (Tigers radio))

Fri 3/3 (6pm) vs Pirates in Sarasota (O's radio)

Sat 3/4 (1pm) vs Braves in Sarasota (O's radio)

Sun 3/5 (1pm) at Rays in St Pete (O's radio)

Mon 3/6 (1pm) vs Phillies in Sarasota (MLB.com Phillies broadcast - audio only?)

Thur 3/9 (1pm) at Phillies in Clearwater (NBC Sports Phil+)

Sat 3/11 (1pm) at Blue Jays in Dunedin (SportsNet TV and O's radio)

Sun 3/12 (1pm) vs Red Sox in Sarasota (O's radio)

Mon 3/13 (1pm) at Braves in North Port (Braves radio)

Thur 3/16 (6pm) vs Blue Jays in Sarasota (SportsNet radio or live stream audio on sportsnet.ca)

Sat 3/18 (1pm) at Red Sox in Fort Myers (MASN2 and O's radio)

Sun 3/19 (1pm) vs Pirates in Sarasota (O's radio)

Mon 3/20 (1pm) at Phillies in Clearwater (NBC Sports Phil+)

Wed 3/22 (1pm) at Blue Jays in Dunedin (SportsNet TV)

Fri 3/24 (6pm) vs Yankees in Sarasota (O's radio)

Sat 3/25 (6pm) at Pirates in Bradenton (O's radio)

Sun 3/26 (1pm) vs Phillies in Sarasota (O's radio & Phillies radio)

Odd that just one game is showing on MASN. Even last year with the shortened ST, there were 3 games on MASN.

The Blue Jays are televising all their home games and will be adding some of their road games to their TV Schedule, so hopefully those will include the 3/1 and 3/16 games in Sarasota.

The Pirates normally televise a bunch of games, and we will be playing the Pirates 6 times this spring.  Their schedule is not out yet.

Please feel free to add any more that you find.

Yet, again MASN and the Orioles being cheap/clueless. I guess they think fans would rather watch a random Texas Hold Em tournament from 2006.

We don't want angry WSOP fans rioting.  Most us are so hungry for baseball, we would be happy w/ a broadcast w/ a single center field camera broadcast w/ Melanie Newman and Scott Garceau.

I think we overestimate the general publics interest in spring training day games.  I'd watch any game I could, but that's weekends and night games - a limited selection.  But, having said that, I'd personally hope to see most night and weekend home games televised.  If I'm looking at their spring schedule correctly, that's 10 games.  7 of those games will be broadcast on WBAL or 98Rock.  4 more road games will have WBAL radio broadcasts.  Haven't seen the TV schedule myself.

Their broadcast schedule thru February is up and I see no games listed. Be nice on the radio side to have Melewski or someone else do games on mlb.com if it’s not being carried by the radio network. Did that in the past.

Yes, Melewski did a decent job on the mlb.com streamed games a few years ago. He even did some road games. Shouldn't cost much to put on those audio streams, so I don't know why they can't do a bunch of those this year.

I will not let you besmirch the good name of Heartland Poker Tour.

Seriously though what is up with MASN airing so many poker games. Must be the cheapest programming option available outside of airing infomercials.

What about all the quality hunting and fishing shows MASN brings up.  Maybe they can become the outdoor life/poker network and drop that pesky baseball programming.

Yeah - most people are working.  I am sure that the Orioles/MASN have determined that the investment isn't worth the return, but I do think it's short-sighted thinking.  I think it becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy - if you assume that people don't care...then you don't do anything to get them to care...and then they don't care.

There’s this fantastic new invention called a DVR that allows you to record a day game and watch it at night.   Plus, MASN often replays its games anyway.  😉

Personally, I’d be content with the weekend games.   I just want something to whet my appetite, and I enjoy getting to see some of the minor leaguers show what they’ve got.

LOL - such bizarre programming on MASN when it is not baseball.

    • Friedman and Dombrowski set a high bar, and the Astros are post peak.    Atlanta probably doesn't want to hear much about the Orioles misfortune. The Orioles level of play has been in the toilet half a season but I still think the good version of themselves is the AL's best positioned team to outplay the NL's best even this year.     We'll see if Soto and Judge are more than a 1-year thing, but even so that club has vulnerabilities.
    • I agree it's unlikely but not completely far fetched. I don't think he is a lock to get more than $20M in AAV, so he could decide to take it and then hit FA if he has a good or even better year. His talent level is in a similar range as the players who have accepted: Joc Pederson, Jose Abreu, Wieters etc.
    • Sort of a funny game to have come directly after a discussion of the merits of bunting with 1st and 2nd with nobody out. Glad Bob Melvin and I don’t see eye to eye on that issue…didn’t work out in his favor today.
    • Let's be honest, Gunnar ain't finishing second either.
    • Yeah, I don't think the Orioles' struggles against NL teams is very meaningful, but I do think the NL is stronger this year.  All the NL division leaders have looked formidable and steady throughout the season.  But also the Padres and Mets have kicked their seasons into another gear and have really impressed over the past couple of months.  Compare them to the Wild Card teams in the AL, and they just appear more formidable on paper.   Also the DBacks are pretty much outhitting everyone right now -- though that's been offset by their not so effective pitching.
    • For sure he is out of consideration as the MVP favorite to copy Cal.  Of course,  Cal didn't have an Aaron Judge to compete with.  The runner-up in MVP voting in 1983 was a guy named Eddie Murray.  Eddie had more HR, more RBI, a higher slugging and OPS than Cal, but Cal had a higher WAR and batting average (.318 to .303).  I wonder if Eddie is bitter about losing the MVP to Cal?  A case could be made for either one.
