I honestly think the reason that people wanted to trade Mateo is he was a waiver claim and people are worried he really isnt that good and will revert to norm.   That and his awful batting average last year made people want to trade him. 

I think everyone who thought these thoughts are having to evaluate just what we have in Mateo now.  I would doubt much has to do with race.
