Send Irvin to the pen. He's been very effective there and hopefully can rediscover his control. Irvin has been invaluable to the O's this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the playoff roster but hopefully not as a starter. -
I was really hoping the Mariners struggled some this year and missed the playoffs then they might change course and realize just having starters won’t win you anything if you have weak offense and make them more likely to trade one of there starters . An off season trade of Mountcastle and Kremer for Woo Gilbert or Miller could help both teams. We get a decent upgrade from 4th starter to a 2 or 3 while they get nice back end guy and a solid offensive player in Mountcastle to hit middle of the order. -
And working the pitcher to get to the power arms in the bullpen faster. -
I'm excited to see how Kremer looks and I think he's one of the more important players on the roster right now. If he can continue to get the better-than-peripherals results he has for the last two years, that will go a long way towards stabilizing this rotation and giving Elias more trade deadline wiggle room. There are warning signs but I also think Kremer is a smart pitcher with a versatile approach so I'm hopeful. -
But how much have you actually watched him play? I've seen him do things that blow my mind. He's incredibly fast, he's beaten out at least a half dozen balls I didn't think he had any chance at beating out. He's hit some absolute moonshots to all fields LF, CF, RF. He plays very high-level D. He covers a ton of ground and can make all the throws. Does he have the arm of Manny or Gunnar, no. He's still learning, developing, and growing. We are only seeing a very early version of what he will eventually be. What he's accomplished at a young age is incredible and has only been done a handful of times in MLB history. He's head and shoulders above every other player born in 2003. That on its own merit makes him an elite player and to suggest otherwise is foolish.
