I hope that it’s a lesson for Hyde because that was some serious arrogance to bring Bazardo into that spot. It was almost like he was daring the Marlins to put up a fight.

It's like a Buck Showalter move.

I disagree because right behind him is Jorge Soler who happens to have 24 home runs.  Miami is not some pushover team.  O's played quite well against a good team until that last inning.

They have about as many come-from-behind wins as we do, we did it to them yesterday and people are shocked and appalled that they mounted some offense against the front end of the pen tonight.

Lol..they were up 5-0. If Elias is giving him that bullet to use, he should be able to get 3 outs before allowing 5 runs.  If not, he has no business being in the majors.

That’s right he has no business being in the majors.  Beyond Bautista, Cano, Baker (most days), Bauman, not reliable. Offense does not provide enough cushion most nights.   This team is like the 2014 Royals - constructed to win close games and need more shutdown arms in the Pen.

Two main observations from the game.

1. The trade deadline should be about one thing. Getting quality relief.

2 I know it's early but I haven't been impressed with Cowser's fielding and his bat doesn't seem major league ready yet.

same thing everyone was saying about Henderson with early struggles.

After only four pitches, why would you not let Baker start the 9th?

Probably wanted to give Bazardo the inning just to give him one.  Hoping he would of been a little better.  If he was getting outs it makes a little sense but Bazardo just crapped the bed.

I mean, I don’t disagree that he shouldn’t be here but since he is and Hyde didn’t want to use certain guys, he made sense in that situation.

Hyde can only go with the cards he is dealt.

Baker is pretty good.  The obvious problem is the health of Givens and Tate.  We need at least one additional reliever in addition to an effective Grayson.  Or we need a another starter + Grayson and push one or two of Kremer/Irvin/Gibson to the bullpen.

IMO Baker and Baumann are decent/league averageish type relievers, Coulombe is a touch better. And of course we have the two elite guys at the end. The rest are not any good at all and are guaranteed to allow base runners.

Give him a couple weeks.  It was pointed out earlier in the thread that he has always taken a couple weeks to adjust to a new level, then takes off.  I know it’s tough when every game counts, but “no way out but through” or something like that.

Henderson came up last year and made an impact right away. There is nothing the same between what is going on with Cowser and what Henderson did when they brought him up last year.

While I think Cowser will be fine. He does not look like the caliber of athlete as Gunnar. I’m not in love with his movements. When I look at him move there almost appear to be some slight coordination issues. I never saw that with Gunnar. He looks like a tremendous athlete.

Also he really was bothered by getting hit in the knee.  The one replay of him at third base showed him messing with his knee and moving it all around and rubbing it.

Yeah, I forgot to include Coulombe.  Seems like Baker has been more reliable than Baumann -- both have a place on this team I think.

I think we can agree this staff needs at least two more pitchers -- hopefully Grayson will be one of them.  It would be nice if Means is the other but we can't count on that.
