I have always thought Cease makes the most sense.  My guess is that they swapped ideas on Verlander and when they realized the Mets' ask they figured they might as well spend those prospects on someone younger/cheaper.

This would need to be the case IMO. Too many walks, too few innings pitched per start for me. If they can get his control figured out, watch out.

These kind of trades I just do not understand. How can a ML SS be had for an A ball guy who is this old? I know DeJong isn't great, but he's still a positive-WAR ML SS going to a team who is DESPERATE.
