Happy for Hyde

He has been through a lot of losing and he deserves this. He gets a lot of bs thrown his way by a lot of uneducated people on social media but he has been great for this team.

Im glad management has stuck with him and allowed him to manage a team with actual talent and lo and behold, once he gets talent, he wins. 

But in an era where management usually doesn’t let managers see their way through these rebuilds, it’s great to see Hyde get to see it through and reap the rewards of it.

Agree 100%.  He’s a good dude.  You can tell the players love him.  I don’t agree with every move he makes, but he’s done a great job of keeping the entire roster involved.   And the clubhouse culture appears to be excellent.

He went from penciling in Rio Ruiz and Pedro Severino in the lineup each day to writing in Gunnar and Adley.  Like going from a '92 Chevy Cavalier to a brand new Corvette.

He made it through some really crappy times and now is showing how good of a leader he is.

Me too. I could see him holding back the emotion when the boys were celebrating the dub on the field and the scoreboard in the background was announcing the clinch. He's been thru a lot and gets to see it through. Today he looked like a damn genius.

Saw Grayson give Hyder a big hug last night walking in the dugout after 8th inning and the team dumped him with Champagne tonight. Clubhouse guy who is manager of the year!

Awesome thread. I feel the same way. Seemed like Hyde was getting a little choked up d her my his locker room interview with KB. And who could blame him.

Hyde gets a lot of flack on here but I think overall he does a very good job.

Kidding aside, lots of people had many questions about whether he would be the right guy for this team when they started winning. I think we have our answer and you can see how proud of this team he is.

I honestly don't know how Hyde does it. I wouldn't want to wear that responsibility. Win and it's the players. Lose and some will paint the loss on you. I think Hyde has proven to be as good a manager as the Orioles have had and I have seen them all. His demeaner and the way he handles his players is steady and consistent. Thanks for starting this thread. Well deserved. Hyde is a "playoff" manager in 2023 and going for a division title.. Who would have thought it two years ago?

Yeah, he deserves it. I criticize his in-game decisions and bullpen management a lot (fairly, IMO) but he's a good guy and I'm happy for him. He's clearly got good vibes in the clubhouse and has this team winning. Good for him.

I would say the majority of Hyde's job we never see.  Hyde is a great manager of people and a big part of the positive energy in the O's Clubhouse.  He definitely deserves all the good things coming his way for the torture of managing the 2019-2021 O's.

I’d hope that today’s win solidifies Manager of the Year for him. He seems like a good man who cares about his players, who very clearly care about him.

I scratch my head once or twice a week on some of his moves but a lot of the time those moves pay off for the team and I remember that I’m running a small business from my home while he’s managing the team with the best record in the AL.

It’s going to take a few years of sustained winning to reprogram the trauma out of the hearts and brains for a lot of us but I’m glad Hyder is the guy shepherding the flock.
