FG depth charts 2024 run differential estimate

I believe at this point, Depth Charts is based entirely on Steamer, whereas the final version blends Steamer and ZiPS.

The early Steamer projections for individual Orioles can be found here.  Using wOBA, Steamer has Holliday (.323) just above Westburg (.322), and Cowser and Mayo (both .318) each ahead of Hays and Mullins (both .317).   And Kjerstad above all those at .324.   Adley (.355) tops Gunnar (.349) with Mountcastle (.335) and Santander (.333) next in line.

For our starting pitchers, Steamer has Grayson with a 3.60 ERA, Bradish 3.86, irvin 4.38, Means 4.41, Kremer 4.47.  They’ve got Povich making 15 starts at 4.27, McDermott 5 starts and 21 relief appearances at 4.43.   Wells in the pen at 4.05.

Not today no. But they were first in MLB in BP ERA. Rodon, if he can stay healthy (huge if but he has been at times recently) and Cole could easily be one of, if not the best 1-2 starters in the league.

Does Judge play a full season?

And you know they will spend and add major players. Let me put this another way…if the Orioles do not make big changes, I think they are as much of a borderline playoff team as the Yankees will be.

I don’t think this is fair to say it right now though, which if that’s what you are saying/asking, I agree with you there.

So we're better but if we don't make "big changes" we'll be in the same boat?

That doesn't really add up. That seems like one of them facts drawn from a foregone conclusion.

How's Rizzo trending? LeMahieu?  Stanton?

We're way better than them, and they're trending in the opposite direction, and all the money on Earth can't cover that up.

No, we are better today but if we don’t do anything and they do some bigger things, they will have a similar chance as us. That’s what I said.

They have enough talent on that team that if they can stay healthy enough in a few key spots (easier said than done but possible) and add some real pieces, especially offensively, they could be dangerous quickly.

I mean they sucked last year and still won 82 games, while having a ton of injuries.

I believe today we are 3-10 games better than that and I also believe they can make those games up.

    • I'm guessing that they could solve it this offseason if they want to. It's easy to put up a wall. What's difficult is putting in seating.
    • I think you can read a lot about the way he said things and his emotions while speaking. Just my opinion.
    • I think the opposite, Astro fans have an expectation of success, Oriole fans don't.
    • It could be a boon if you are targeting pitchers that are in a situation in which they need a one year make good deal to rehabilitate their value. Other than that,,,
    • Duh we brought in Kyle Giboson, Jordan Lyles, and Craig Kimbrel
    • The 13 game plan is guaranteed playoff tickets…….if you purchase them.  Since I assume you went through the team and chose your seat and purchased it with a card, you should get it back.   At least for me, my wife and I thought we were going to be moving 30 minutes away from our house, but instead of an hour from Baltimore, it would be 1 hour 45 minutes, so season tickets of any sort didn’t make sense.  I also figured that we would get hit with 4 pm games mid-week to start, so it all just didn’t make sense.   I am also surprised that my rep didn’t reach out to ask why.  I opted in before as a 29 game holder, in 2014, 15 and 16.  I went back to 29 games this year after two seasons with 13, and I’ve been a Birdland member since 2014.  Oh well.  We may be opting back into 13 next year, or not at all.  We will have to see.  My wife will sometimes get tickets from work, and they were always when we had tickets, so it didn’t make sense to take them.
    • That Jimmy Fallon movie was Fever Pitch.  Came out in late 2004 I think, because they had enough time to have the last scene being him and Drew Barrymore on the field in St. Louis celebrating the World Series win.  It actually was a really good movie at the time. But because the Red Sox and their fanbase became completely insufferable beginning with that comeback against the Yankees and carrying all the way through their 4 championships without so much as a loss in the World Series, it is hard for me to still enjoy it. But the underlying premise and that question of what has your favorite team ever done for you definitely resonated and certainly does even more so now with the Orioles.  And for Os fans the answer to that question is over the last 40 years, they haven't done much at all.
