On that note, it could be an opportunity to get cheap team friendly contracts on other players like Hays. Contracts you don't mind taking a hit on if it becomes necessary... but on the other hand, could also provide great value if the player performs and wants to stay in Baltimore.

That's an issue with MLB.  They could afford to shoot every base and foul line in the league from eight different angles, but they don't and thus struggle way too much on replay calls.  But I'll stop right there, that horse has been beaten enough.

That Cowser PA didn't amount to anything, but I still seen it as important. It gave him a chance to face a big league lefty and the situation was lower leverage.

Very much. The difference between that and a normal Hays AB is astronomical. Get the count in your favor, 7 pitches, make the pitcher make a good pitch.
