Padres overpaid like crazy for Adam.

Lesko is not the guy he once was. His control is just completely gone and his stuff is significantly worse. He has walked 52 in 69 2/3IP and I've read people saying his fastball is more 92MPH than the mid 90s it was before.

Did they? He's a lights out late inning RP with multiple years of control, and he's super cheap, which is particularly important for them due to their luxury tax situation (I believe).

They gave up three players, one is which is their #1 prospect. Adam is great but dang. That's bad news for the reliever market.

What does Elias do next?  Add a starter, a reliever, a RHH OF, dip into our system for reinforcements, or something else entirely?

Hopefully all of the above.

My personal next priority is a top tier reliever. We gotta win the games we have leads in.

Mounty with a nice game today. Couple of big defensive plays, 2 hits, 4 RBIs. I don't know where his power went but if he's not going to hit home runs, this will do.

I'm extremely skeptical that he will be traded.

Saved Gunnar a 3rd error on a ball in the dirt to first also. He's staying.

I feel like Tanner Scott would fit so well in our bullpen. Can close to take pressure off of Kimbrel, plus he pairs well with Dominguez as a LH/RH flamethrower. On top of that he slides Cano back to a more comfortable role.

Burnes? NAH … Burnes is a durable bull dog type. I think he’s worth the risk if you are ever going to on a pitcher. For us Snell is a 2 month rental as he’s not exercising his option. He signed this deal early this season so I’m not sure how you get it’s backloaded. He had a signing bonus so really it was just a 2 year at $32

Its backloaded because of the player option, maybe Hes the next big injury and were on the hook

I am putting my money on Urias as the only other veteran traded. Since the rumor was Mounty/Ced, it will end up being Hays/Urias, because Elias is never in line with the rumor.

The Elias m.o. would be none of the above! I think they have to keep Urias due to the Mateo injury.

Crochet maybe his worst game of the year after putting his juju at risk, and White Sox take one step closer to the Why Not Orioles 21-game streak watch.

Saw Heyman post “in probably his last game with the White Sox…”. Is it that foregone a conclusion? I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he didn’t get traded.

    • I think a lot of the problem is that the hitters trained on the ABS system are falling behind in the count because pitches that are outside the strike zone are being called strikes. Having a count go 1-1 instead of 2-0 is huge for a hitter.
    • I've certainly seen a LOT of called strike threes taken on balls in the middle of the plate, which is perplexing.   Sure, you can be looking fastball and be frozen by a breaking ball, but with two strikes you just can't do it.   Once again this is just eye test, general impression, but it sure seems to happen to us too much lately.
    • In the beginning of the year the team had the best hitting team in baseball but were never walking and near the bottom.  There was lots of complaining about how they don’t walk enough to be a better lineup.  The second half of the year they are near the top of the league in walks and there hitting has fallen off.  You would think with more walks and taking pitches they would be hitting better.  Are they walking to much and not being aggressive like they were earlier in the year?
    • I agree with all that you wrote, I was just surprised so few teams go past 45K.
    • The capacity situation is affected by 3 trends, I believes:    -- newer stadiums being built tend to have fewer have fewer seats (and OPACY is now one of the 10 oldest ballparks in the major leagues)    -- stadiummodifications usually result in capacity going down:   for bigger playing field (like Baltimore), or for more club/luxury seating or entertainment areas replacing denser regular seating areas)    -- some teams just deciding never to sell some seats so I guess they no longer count in capacity (like that entire top deck in the outfield in Oakland).   I mean, I'm sure they could FIT way more than 25K humans comfortably in the Trop, they obviously have some seating areas they just bother to print tickets for and sell because they know they'll never sell them, so I guess that doesn't count in capacity.   Now at Oriole Park they only sell the LF upper deck seats these days when a big crowd is expected... but those seats still count towards capacity even in games where they choose not to make them available.
    • As if more AB's for Jimenez would help
    • It wasn't an impressive list before Elias traded some away.
