Eloy and Santander are about the same level of hitter for their career. I’m just trying to think why Elias would make the trade. The Orioles definitely wanted a right handed bat to replace Hays and Eloy is a potential replacement for Santander in case he walks in free agency. 

I think Eloy is here because the team needs a veteran right handed hitter for the playoffs and he can split at bats at DH with O’Hearn.
