We are winning 65% of our games and our offense is scoring among the top five  in MLB in runs per game.   Yet we hear so many of these generalized statements about how we can't hit, we can't handle prosperty, we always give runs back after we score, we always do this wrong, we always do that wrong.

It's all such utter BS.   If we were making a habit of doing all the things wrong all the time that the whiners and crybabies constantly cry about, there is NO WAY we would be on a 105 win pace or one of the highest scoring teams in MLB.   It would be impossible.

Do we do those things on occasion?   Sure, every team does.   Every team has a scoring drought   Every team occasionally gets a lead and gives it back.   Every other team strands runners on 3rd with less than two outs now and then.

But there is NO WAY we are worse at all those things than most teams.   There is NO WAY those things can be endemic problems for us rather than just things that happen occasionally to us like every MLB team.  Because if they were, we would not have the record we do.

I agree that some of these things are not fair subjects for criticism or hand-wringing. But it is my impression that the Orioles, for one of the top teams in MLB, rarely get off to a big lead in the first few innings and, when they do, often (again for a very good team) give all or most of it up. 

I don't accept your logic, as I understand it, that because the Orioles have an outstanding won-loss record (just slightly above their simple Pythagorean expectation), they can't be not-so-good at anything.  A very good team can be mediocre or bad at some things. I think the Orioles are not very good at this one, and I said so without researching the accuracy of my observation.

It may be that the Rays left Bradley in for as long as they did partly for learning purposes. But I think a big part of the reason is that their bullpen is pretty fried.

I agree we don't get off to a good start offensively this year   That's been documented.   Everyone is a little worse the first time through the order but our split in terms of TTTTO is way bigger than a lot of teams.

But I don't think we "often" give it back at all when we take the lead.  I think we just remember the times when it does happen.

The stats show we get as many sac flies as other teams but every time we fail to get a runner in from 3rd with less than 2 outs there's a chorus of how bad we are at that.   (Of course the chorus has a very well known lead singer).

We got two straight runners in from 3rd with less than two outs the other inning, on a double and a sac fly, but I guarantee the next time we leave someone on 3rd in that situation you'll hear about how bad we are at that.
