Stay hot kid!

2 for 3 3B 2R tonight

13th in the league in OPS.  9th in average.    He keeps on gaining.   .844 OPS in May.  Over 1.000 so far in June.   I don’t mind him putting up numbers in the Carolina league but he might soon be deserving of a Basallo type of promotion last year.   Needs a position (2B/SS/CF) but offensively I’d like to see him fast tracked.

He may not be big but he’s strong enough.  He hits homers from the left side.  He hits homers from the right side.  He can even go oppo from either side.  If you hit we will find you a position.

Nice to see the oppo power there. That is one of things I always look for when I'm trying to judge game power. A lot of guys have pull power, but at the upper levels pitchers will know that and keep pitching them away. No that was hard to see whether that ball was middle-middle or slightly away due to the camera angle, but either way, that was a very nice job of going oppo over the fence.

Estrada briefly cracked the .300 barrier tonight before grounding out in his final at bat to finish the night at .299.

@Tony-OHboosted Estrada all the way from 24 to 9 in the power rankings today.  Can’t blame him.

This is an absolutely unhinged camera angle lol. Just wanted to say that, carry on.

Watching that video of him you can see why.  He's a really put together dude that's hitting oppo bombs like that.

So what’s there to know about this dude?  Signing bonus?  He’s pretty high in Tony’s power rankings. He just got promoted to Aberdeen. Defense?  Arm?  Speed?

Signing bonus was $175k (I googled that RZ, aren't you proud of me?)

He absolutely raked as a 17 year old in the DSL, then got injured early in the FCL last year and never really got going.  Slow start at Delmarva this year but has really come on strong since May or so.

He does have 31 SB this year to 8 CS, but I don't put a ton of stock into SB numbers at those lower levels where seemingly everyone runs all the time.  He's kind of played all over the place defensively but from what I've read it seems like 2B is probably his most likely position.  But we'll see how that goes as he progresses.

Controls the strike zone well enough, started to add a little pop into his game, moves well on the go but not a burner on the bases so won't steal bases at the major league level, probably going to end up at 2B or the outfield due to his arm and quickness not being great for SS.

Appears a bit taller than his listed height and definitely more weight as listed in BBref. He's only 19-years old and has out performed his high dollar counterparts in his class.

It's be nice to see how he does in his taste of Aberdeen. Similar to Bencosme but with more pop and less hit tool at the same age.

    • Rather sign Pivetta. Probably costs less and you don’t have to give up talent.  But if you get Gray cheaply and they eat some contract, he could be a plan c or d type guy.
    • In my mind, I'll be sitting right about where I was for Game 2 of the 2014 ALDS, which I think was in Section 53. In the real world, I'll be at home , probably on the sofa, with my broken ankle iced from time to time and elevated. I'll be following the game on TV and the game thread on my laptop. At least the building won't shake -- or if it does, I'll know there's a problem.  If only two of Westburg, Urias and me were going to return in time for Tuesday's opener, I guess I might as well be the odd man out.
    • Just saw it.  Mutambo died earlier today.  Who is going to be the third?
    • Gray is actually due $65M. $25M next year, $35M in 2026, and a $5M buyout on a $30M mutual option in 2027. Plus he has a no trade clause Not really any surplus value there. He could be worth close to 2/$65M, but pretty much no way he exceeds it. Doubt I would give up more than a bag of balls if they had to take on the whole contract.
    • It can’t hurt to do research on him and place a call to Cards GM & see what’s involved . We need SP help .
    • Here is my roster. • You must choose a 26-man roster from 26 seasons. Here are the rules. Ignore 2020 Select 13 position players, with 9 starters and 4 bench players Select 13 pitchers, with 5 starters and 8 relievers You can only select one player from each season from 1998-2024 (exclude 2020) You can only select a given player ONCE  Starting pitchers have to be starting pitchers, relievers have to be relievers I will amend rules as appropriate from any suggestions you have. Go.
