So you are letting the 34.2 innings he threw for us last year irrationally cloud your judgment as I expected.  He may struggle again if we acquire him, he may not.  The 2024 version of him would be a huge upgrade to the rotation and it is certainly worth considering if the price is right.

They've been starting Kjerstad in LF and he's been making all the routine catches as far as I know. Im inclined to hang onto him at the moment.

This is classic OH talk (why I limit my time here). There is someone lying in wait somewhere on this board to explain to you the difference between pitching in the AL Central vs. AL East, but I'll leave that to them. At a certain level, I root for the laundry and he didn't wear the laundry well once already when it mattered and I guarantee there are many paying customers who feel the same way that I do.

I don't think anyone here needs that explained to them.  We just typically expect better analysis then "he was bad for us over 34 innings once so no" which is what you offered.  Would you not have been interested in re-acquiring Jake Arrieta after he went to the Cubs had he been available?

Even if Skubal is or becomes available, you already know many here will not want to acquire him. They will squawk about the (not wanting to surrender valuable prospects) or propose scenarios where Norby, Urias, Hays, Stowers are enough to acquire one of the best pitchers in the game.

You don’t need to have prescient powers to see that coming…lol

Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately for you, it comes down to what Elias would offer for Skubal.

Agreed. It's all in Elias' hands (Skubal/substantive acquisition or not).

Hopefully he pulls the right levers.

      1) I feel like we could’ve used some veteran star power leadership  2) Money 💰…if need be get a switch hitter  3) I’m standing by sign Burnes …I anticipate 6 or 7 years … Fail or Fall? I expect him to disappoint … In addition to Burnes I’d be looking to extend Eflin  4) I think we have a number of guys leaving … we almost certainly have a pick for Santander and Burnes if Elias fails. I’ll chalk it up to bad luck but boy we had a lot of it  7) I think Gunnar is the guy you go after… if it’s a no …you can early extend Westburg. I’d want to see Adley rebound. If the front office is confident he will maybe you extend him now.    8.) I’m fine with McCann but perhaps we need a C3 with the way we regularly play both. 9) I’m fine with what we have if everyone is healthy this coming year and Felix is ready to roll from the get go. I believe he makes Cionel, Cano, Dominquez , Coulombe and Soto better. If you want an upgrade then I guess you can trade some as depth   10)I think he likes to take shots on lottery tickets… I don’t think it’s out of the box for him. Holliday depends if your moving Mullins along.

      This years playoff lose does not reach the top 5 in terms of pain for me. 1.   When the Jet beat the Coltsin the 69 Superbowl.  Now that is pain. 2.  Mets beat the heavily favored O's in the 69 WS 3.  Pirates beat the O's in 71.   Family my ass. 4.  Jeffery Maier robs the O's in the 96 Championship game vs the Yankees 5. Cleveland's Tony Fernandez  homers off Benitez  in the 11th to beat the O's 1-0 in the 97 Champion Series. Love the O's.  This years lose was not has bad as any of those.
