Do the Os have a SS problem?

It's weird.  SS defense is killing the INF defense right now and it's not playoff caliber.     Gunnar had looked locked in as an AllStar SS but has run into a major defensive rut.     With Mateo as the only true back SS in the system - now we know why he has been so valued by the FO and Hyde - there are really no other options in the system.   Westburg is not a SS, Holliday is apparently no longer a SS, is there anyone else in the system?

If you are going to focus on pitching to contact and letting your defense make plays you need more consistent middle infield defense.  A bunch of 2B and 3B options but may need to find another ML ready SS if Mateo is out indefinitely.      Time to re-focus on elite defense.  It matters.

It's impossible to get by with infielders playing out of position resulting in poor defense.    Defensive tone is set by the INF.   Westburg is a good (not great) 3B, below average at 2B and a non-MLer at SS.  Ohearn is a huge dropoff at 1B from Mounty.  2B defense is worse with no Mateo (maybe Norby will be ok?), and SS has looked problematic of late with Gunnar issues.   Urias is a 3B (Westy's best position) posing as a UT INF.    Need a defense first type to back-up SS and 2B (and ideally 3B)- yeah Mateo's defense is missed.
