Way to go, Elias...

Elias trades for Eflin, Rogers (who got destroyed by Cleveland), Soto, and Dominguez; all have an ERA over 4. Rogers is now 2-10 with an ERA of 4.76. Austin Slater is hitting under .200, Jiménez is hitting .239 and he can only DH because he is a hack in the field...shouldn't even be allowed to wear a glove. For these guys, he gave up INF/OF Mac Horvath, RHP Jackson Baumeister, OF Matthew Etzel, INF/OF Connor Norby, OF Kyle Stowers, OF Austin Hays, RHP Seth Johnson, LHP Trey McGough. For those eight players, and a couple of useless veterans such as OF Mullins, RHP Kremer, LHP Perez, INF Urias, INF Mateo, along with highly rated prospects C/1B Basallo, and OF Bradfield (that is 15 players), they could have acquired quality players (take your pick) such as LHP Tarik Skubal, LHP Garrett Crochet, LHP Tanner Scott, RHP Erick Fedde, OF Tommy Pham, RHP Jack Flaherty. I'd like to think that they could have picked up five out of this group and greatly enhanced the team. As it is, they took a step backward acquiring not one solid player. Just read the grades from the sportswriters (not the uneducated fans) on these deals and it bears out that Elias was burned. The Orioles had a chance to make the team a World Series powerhouse, instead, they were fleeced.

I was meh about the moves but Zips, Will Leitch of mlb.com (“1 of 7 deadline winners”) and crazy Jim Bowden (B+)  all were positive.   So who were the sportswriters who thought the trades were terrible?

Who did Skubal and Crochet get traded too? You going to get a seller to take on those 5  veterans? Do you follow this team? Mateo is on the 60 day DL.

Oh cool the board is cluttered with another of the worst takes I’ve ever. Sure sure Elias has brought us a first place team that is defending the AL East title through multiple major injuries to its pitching staff. He’s the worst amirite?

Why do all the hot take people never use paragraphs? Man, I’m 40. 2-3 sentences max per paragraph. This crap hurts my eyes. Thanks. Asking for a friend….

It’s ok it’s pretty pointless to read it all anyway.

Funny thing is, he could have seen this info already if he had posted this rant in any of the 7 other trade deadline topics on this board.

ZiPS is dumb and should not be taken seriously.

They didn’t make the sexy move and “go for it.” That seems to be the big issue.

Overall I like the moves. Wish we had a more dominant closer but pen is better.

What sexy move was even available to them?  There’s an article on MLB Trade Rumours that the Tigers never seriously considered trading Skubal. Crochet was always a non starter because of the innings issue even before his public statement tanked his value. There was never a single rumor about Mason Miller. The Yankees balked at Flaherty’s medicals before the Dodgers pulled the trigger. Eflin might have been the best P traded. Scott went for a ridiculous cost.

Who did they miss out on?

Absolutely clueless. Staggeringly silly OP.
