What sexy move was even available to them?  There’s an article on MLB Trade Rumours that the Tigers never seriously considered trading Skubal. Crochet was always a non starter because of the innings issue even before his public statement tanked his value. There was never a single rumor about Mason Miller. The Yankees balked at Flaherty’s medicals before the Dodgers pulled the trigger. Eflin might have been the best P traded. Scott went for a ridiculous cost.

Who did they miss out on?

They missed on nothing except maybe Jazz from Miami.

Elias trades for Eflin, Rogers (who got destroyed by Cleveland), Soto, and Dominguez; all have an ERA over 4. Rogers is now 2-10 with an ERA of 4.76. Austin Slater is hitting under .200, Jiménez is hitting .239 and he can only DH because he is a hack in the field...shouldn't even be allowed to wear a glove. For these guys, he gave up INF/OF Mac Horvath, RHP Jackson Baumeister, OF Matthew Etzel, INF/OF Connor Norby, OF Kyle Stowers, OF Austin Hays, RHP Seth Johnson, LHP Trey McGough. For those eight players, and a couple of useless veterans such as OF Mullins, RHP Kremer, LHP Perez, INF Urias, INF Mateo, along with highly rated prospects C/1B Basallo, and OF Bradfield (that is 15 players), they could have acquired quality players (take your pick) such as LHP Tarik Skubal, LHP Garrett Crochet, LHP Tanner Scott, RHP Erick Fedde, OF Tommy Pham, RHP Jack Flaherty. I'd like to think that they could have picked up five out of this group and greatly enhanced the team. As it is, they took a step backward acquiring not one solid player. Just read the grades from the sportswriters (not the uneducated fans) on these deals and it bears out that Elias was burned. The Orioles had a chance to make the team a World Series powerhouse, instead, they were fleeced.

No offense, but I'm going to trust Mike Elias' judgement over yours.

You mean the guy with the .700 OPS?  Where would he have played?  He’s left handed so he’s not someone to pair with Holliday at second or Ced in center. He’s playing third for NY even though he’s never played there.

He’s fast and he has a cool name. He’s had an excellent start with the Yanks but if he hadn’t would you even be saying this?

The argument that is out there is if the Os were willing to put their top 3 prospects on the board(whether it be 1, 2 or even all 3 of them) that more players who may or may not have been available would have been more likely to get.

No, has absolutely nothing to do do with it. By the way .758 OPS for career. Big speed plays multiple positions.

One of the main goals on Orioles Hangout is to not be the main character who starts the first reactionary thread two days after the trade deadline.

You hate to see someone fail at this goal so hard. But someone always does. Today, it is this guy. RIP.

There will be plenty of opportunity to skewer Elias if these moves don't work out. Today is not that day.

Exactly right. How do you criticize Elias for not making a move for a player that wasn’t even traded?

His career 162 game average is .248/.311/.447, 28 HRs, and 33 SBs.

I can find someplace on the diamond for that.

Why do all the hot take people never use paragraphs? Man, I’m 40. 2-3 sentences max per paragraph. This crap hurts my eyes. Thanks. Asking for a friend….

Ain't nobody got time for that.  Not when you're trying to dispense your vast baseball knowledge to the world.

An argument that literally no one can make with any real education on the situation, because no one has any idea if that would have even worked.  And two of those three top prospects are now on the team.

26 years old by the way, 2 more years of team control, Has OPS of . 700 against LHP this year this meantime mullins is unplayable against LHP, so no no platoon, also a 2nd basemen and Mateo was well injured at the Deadline. What if Holliday falls on his butt again

Sounds like you really don’t like Elias? Are you an O’s fan by any chance?

I hate that the Yankees got him.

He's going to be a star for them.
