Yes that’s exactly what he expected to do, and no, it hasn’t worked well. But Elias is smart enough to know what a mess he’s made of the current team, and minor league depth.

The question now is whether he’s humble enough to admit it and pivot to a better strategy, implemented hopefully now and in the coming offseason, to include a pick or two in the rule five draft.
