MLB Gamecast shows it right on the inside corner of the strike zone. Close, but a strike and definitely to close to take with the winning run on second and 2 strikes on the batter.

They showed the pitch track or whatever it's called on MASN and the ball was a good 4 inches below the bottom of the strike zone.

That thing shows where the C caught it, not where it crossed the plate.

Bah. Really is going into extra's. At least we'll have the top of the order up next inning.

Baez needs to come out for another inning.

Yeah, bottom of the order for Toronto and top of the order for us (after Andino). Let's hope we win it in 10 so things don't get reversed on us in the 11th. And, let's not get into the "ump screwed" us syndrome. The pitch was easily close enough to be called a strike.

Agreed. I sometimes can be an O homer (sometimes ) but that pitch was too close. Maybe someone like Markakis gets the benefit of the doubt, maybe they don't... but you gotta take a cut at that pitch.

But shouldn't Wiggington be considered a better hitter and more likely to get the base hit needed to end the game?

Frasor is a good righty and Wigginton can't hit righties for some reason. Plus Zaun has been hitting better and can replace Moeller. Wigginton can then hit later in the game.
