List Your Personal Top 10

Recommended Posts

After reviewing a bunch of video today, updated top 10 for me:

  1. Stephen Strasburg RHP, San Diego St. (won't be there)
  2. Tyler Matzek, LHP, Capastrano Valley HS (CA) (still big fan, but starting to question signability)
  3. Donavan Tate, OF, Cartersville HS (GA) (drooling while reviewing video today -- write-up posting tonight)
  4. Zack Wheeler, RHP, East Paulding HS (GA) (projectable, think FB touches upper 90s when all said and done -- very happy with him if matzek is gone)
  5. Grant Green, SS, USC (still fan of the tools, but wheeler slides ahead on upside)
  6. Alex White, RHP, UNC (could bump up with great start tomorrow)
  7. Dustin Ackley, 1B/CF, UNC (not sure of position, like the hit tool, but still not sold on rest for top 5)
  8. Aaron Crow, RHP, Ft. Worth (Indy) (good polish, but haven't seen the change-up and he's a year older)
  9. Shelby Miller, RHP, Brownwood HS (TX) (love, love the fastball velo + life -- not as projectable for me as wheeler)
  10. Matt Davidson, 3B, Yucaipa HS (CA) (still stuck on the bat -- looks the best pure hitter in the prep class for me)

Davidson and Borchering.

What do you guys think of these guys? How do they project? Who is better? Where will they go? etc

The 6' 4-200 pound Borchering is a very good switch-hitting 3B'man, and while his defense is improving at third, some feel he would make a better defender at 1B. He should be a very good hitter with the potential for very good power, and has performed very well at all-star games.

The well-built 6' 3-225 pound Davidson is a 3B'man who already has light-tower power, but is a bit less refined at the plate. Davidson has struggled against the better HS pitching, but probably offers more upside that Borchering. Davidson also profiles better to 1B than 3B, but regardless, most scouting agencies rank Borchering a shade higher.

Stotle was/is enamored with Davidson's upside, so he may have a thing or two to add. I see Davidson more as a Supp 2nd-3rd round high risk/high reward type.
