      I think he was talking about Ryan Mountcastle but I can understand the pivot.  It’s like the Elvin Hayes turn around bank shot.  It’s always there when you need it.  😀

      Suarez minor league deal. Cole Sulser. Cesar Valdez. Jorge Lopez. There's a ton, even if some only work out for one year or so.  I think what happens is people look at this year and the lack of waiver/small trade/minor league deal success stories, which is true. Elias hasn't found that guy on waivers or trades this year... yet.

      If Urias and/or Mateo are released or traded, then Norby becomes important depth at both 2B and as a right-handed bat on a team with mostly lefty hitters. Norby is certainly a candidate to be traded himself, but I value him significantly more than any of Urias, Mateo, AND Hays, and Elias should as well. Other major league teams would certainly offer more in a trade for Norby than they would for Hays (and certainly also Mateo and Urias). So we should value him similarly. If there are no takers for Norby on the trade market, he has good value to the Orioles' major league roster later this season. Once Mayo is promoted, Norby's ability to play both corner OF spots and 2B with a quality righty bat actually makes him more valuable to this team than any of Mateo, Urias, McKenna, or Hays coming off the bench previously.  An eventual bench of Norby, Mullins as the 4th OF, and Billy Cook would be very strong and versatile. That's the bench of a team with the best offense in baseball, and one that can win a World Series even without a great pitching staff.

      Norby plays a valuable role in serving as a liaison and tour guide for the greater Norfolk area when players get promoted to the Tides.

      Oh, and I don't disagree with that (the pitch clock is one of my favorite rule changes for hitters and pitchers alike), but the idea that putting a runner at second to shorten the game is what I don't like. Was an extra inning game something that happened often enough to extend the overall average time of play? Maybe, but I don't like that rule. Yes, the 5-4 game in 2:15 is preferable for sure, but burning through bullpens and calling up players from the minors is also part of team management and the inner workings of the game which I enjoy. Who's really a good in game manager and also works with the GM to manage the 40 man? Maybe that part of it is lost on many, but the runner at 2B is one of my least favorite changes despite your bedtime preferences! And while I also like the pitch clock, limiting the pitcher to two throws (disengagements) is ridiculous.

      Back to the OP, I don't find much to quibble about re: the grades at all. I might lean towards that B or even B- for Cowser rather than the B+, but it's splitting hairs. He's been able to avoid an absolute bottoming-out pretty much any time he gets close, so he's staying just productive enough for a rookie. It feels like he's stepped it up since Kjerstad came up, and no I'm not drawing any silly conclusions there. Just a coincidence. But it's incredible if they can both be productive on the same roster.
