Weams:Pitching

Pitching isn't popular with fans. They want Fielder! Don't go letting a major need get in the way of a want Weams! The Orioles would have needed to score 152 more runs to break even on run differential. Top teams in our league:

Yankees 867/657 +210

Rays 707/614 +93

Red Sox 875/737 +138

Rangers 855/677 +178

Tigers 787/711 +76

Angels 667/633 +34

The Tigers division saw every other team in their division finish under .500 where the AL East saw every team besides the Orioles finish at or above .500. Three teams in the Central and West finished with a .500 or greater record and there were four teams from the AL East to do the same. The Rays or Red Sox probably win either division and you could argue that the Blue Jays wouldn't be far from contending as well.

The Orioles task of rebuilding is more difficult than any other team in any sport IMO. We need so much help to just sniff 81 wins and that would not be good enough to make the playoffs IMO. If we are going off of need than you can argue that parts of Africa need less help than the Orioles. We are really in bad shape.

Out of Kieth Law's article about the Andrew Bailey Trade

Bailey has had trouble staying healthy the last two years, and had Tommy John surgery in college (when he was overworked like he was a disposable item). But when he's pitched, he's been an above-average reliever, helped by a good ballpark and very good defenses behind him.

Umm, mike? You might want to choose a different example. None of those great defenses behind Bailey have helped the A's to a winning record.

Arod's career is in the balance of an experimental technique. He is owed 6 more years and more than 175 million dollars.

John Lackey is recovering from TJ.

Carl Crawford is doing his best Alfonso Soriano impression.

Andrew Bailey says he is healthy. He stresses it. He says his forearm hardly ever bothers him right now. Of course, he is not throwing yet.

I think our time is right around the corner. Maybe JTrea is right!
