A D- or an F would indicate we got absolutely nothing in return back. While this deal made no sense from a financial or long-term standpoint, at least we got back something in return. Hammel has the potential and past production to replicate Guthrie, and relievers are relievers, so maybe Lindstrom surprises us this year. But, even with that, this was simply an uninspiring and mediocre trade.

Yep. I went with D for these reasons.

The Orioles get an average starter and average reliever.

What value do both of these players add to our rotation or bullpen? .. NONE

The only value we get is Guthries 2012 salary is no spread across 2 players instead of 1.
