No thank you.

No chance that Duq is dumb enough to do this.

I hope I don't inspire the wrath of the OH with the following statement but I must say it:

There's a lot to love about DD, but he still scares me a bit with trade related decisions although I admit part of that fear is irrational. I wish AM was still around as the designated trade guy.

*from the unnamed analyst*

"Kubel's a guy you bring in and it immediately makes your lineup better. He's a guy that can protect Jones and, you know, Winters, and he's a veteran presence you know he can fit right in."

That's a load of complete cliche and autopilot. He looked nervous just trying to toss out something that made sense.... and failed.

FYI:

Arizona GM Kevin Towers is going on vacation this Friday, Rosenthal reports. While Towers would prefer to trade Upton or Kubel by then, it's not a deadline.
The asking price for Kubel is dropping and Baltimore would be a logical landing spot for him, Olney tweets. Earlier today it was reported that the O's are pursuing Kubel but talks are not yet at an advanced stage.

Which of his trades did you not approve of?

Or are you just reacting to the fact that MLB reporters like to throw out rumors like "Orioles discussing trading their All-Star closer for mediocre OF"

Kubel's splits:

vs RHP, career - .279/.343/.498

vs LHP, career - .238/.308/.383

vs RHP, 2012 - .264/.348/.540

vs LHP, 2012 - .234/.291/.446

...and this would be the proposed Wilson Betemit/Danny Valencia platoon:

vs RHP, career - .281/.349/.474

vs LHP, career - .316/.359/.472

vs RHP, 2012 - .302/.357/.502

vs LHP, 2012 - .226/.214/.337

Valencia (or whoever takes his spot on the roster) would be the key here. Kubel seems redundant with Betemit.

Steve Johnson is who immediately came to mind. A young pitcher who has shown success at the ML level is about all one can ask for Kubel. JJ would be pretty lopsided.

Xavier Avery. And Eat Kubel's contract. And that might not be a great deal.
