One day after manager Buck Showalter had to scramble to get his team through 8 innings after Kevin Gausman was ejected from the game in the 2nd inning, General Manager Dan Duquette did some scrambling of his own by calling up Tyler Wilson and Gabriel Ynoa from AAA-Norfolk, while optioning Richard Bleier and Alec Asher. Wilson managed to throw a serviceable 6-inning, 3-run game, and the Orioles' offense came alive in the middle innings.

To some, our squad only has two players that would make the Red Sox 25.  Yet they have a winning record against them.  After everything that went on this series, Boston gained no ground.

THE VERY NEXT DAY, the Orioles again lost their starting pitcher early in the game (the 1st inning.)

This time, it was due to an injury from being hit on back-to-back batted line drives up the middle.

 

Gabriel Ynoa, who was just called up from AAA-Norfolk yesterday, came in and threw 6 shutout innings to bridge the huge gap to the rest of the bullpen. The offense managed to push 4 runs across the plate, and the team hung on for another big) W.

Ubaldo Jimenez hung in there, going toe-to-toe with one of the best pitchers in the game.

Seth Smith kept reaching safely, regardless of who was pitching.

The Orioles scored 2 runs in the final 3 innings to send the game into extra innings, including back-to-back RBI-hits by Jonathan Schoop and J.J. Hardy in the bottom of the 9th inning when the Orioles were down to their final out.

Logan Scott Verrett stood tall in a pretty high-pressure situation.

We came up big in which what have been a big loss considering Buck fired the A squad bullets. This offense needs a gut check and needs to start getting on freaking base.
