Is Jim Johnson sick?

Baxter

In the game the other night where he blew the save my wife commented that he looked very pale and the today they had a closeup of his face he he looked like he was feeling horrible. I'm hoping the recent struggles are a cold or something. When he is bad, he is really bad.

It's unfortunate for Johnson because he definitely is struggling to get his pitches over and hit his spots. Just like the other night against the Padres, his fastball kept cutting to the outside and he becomes very hittable when he falls behind. Every pitcher goes through a period where their mechanics are out of whack, but sadly for us, it becomes highlighted when it is the closer.

I still have faith in Johnson though because we have seen a large enough sample size to cut him some slack and know who he is. He is one of the better closers in the game and we just need him to continue to work and put his head on straight.
