Yesterday we went with O'Day in this exact situation. Can't really do it again. Not saying I wouldn't have used someone like Patton instead, but you're griping for the sake of it at this point.

I'm on record as not liking the idea of McFarland in the rotation because I don't think he has the stuff or velocity to get through a lineup two to three times a game. However, I like him out of the pen for 1-3 innings a game for that exact same reason. He can really save a bullpen. I hope he'll be back out for the 7th, at least to start it.

I don't mind him as a body stashed at Norfolk to be the 7th starter. I also don't mind him as the long man who can make an emergency spot start.
