Price tag for Santana & Jimenez has come down to 14.1 -14.6 $mill per season for 3/4 year deals

Considering that we gave a compensatory pick and two good prospects for a few years of Bud Norris, I don't think it should be out of bounds to give up a first round draft pick to sign someone who is likely to be a lot better than Bud Norris.

Put it this way: if the O's don't sign anyone good, and they manage to play their way into contention in the first half in spite of it, they'll probably be looking to trade prospects for a half-year rental at the trade deadline. Trading prospects and trading a draft pick aren't that different--why not just get a good pitcher now?

It still bugs me that they gave the compensatory pick. It would have been a deal breaker for me.

We may go to three years but give up a draft pick for these two ?

So rule the Orioles out.

All the number 17 picks since 1980. You give the pick up all the time if the player makes you better now.

Do you have any idea what value is above? Any?

As well as those who have been picked after 17.

You need to rethink a bit of this. I am not saying it is off the table, but wow. It's a lot to give up.

Orioles can do no wrong in your eyes.

Well, that's ironic, they can do no right in yours.

Well, I guess it is all good for a healthy balance.

I make no secret that I am an actual fan of the Orioles. The product now, the Historical product. The Orioles. But this off season and last has me scratching my head. I want to sign a pitcher. Extend Hardy and Davis. And watch my team win more times than they lose.
