60th Anniversary Event on August 8

What a special night both on and off the field. So glad my wife and I were able to be a part of it.

Nothing conjures up sentimentality quite like baseball, and seeing all of those players from my childhood was truly awesome. So many great memories from the 80s and 90s seeing games with my family at Memorial. Loved those teams and that era. It's when I fell in love with Orioles baseball and I've never looked back. After all, the Colts left when I was seven so I didn't have a football team. The Birds have been my one constant in sports. I obviously wasn't around for the glory years, but that doesn't mean I didn't appreciate seeing Frank and Brooks. The applause those two fine gentlemen received was tremendous and well deserved. Same goes for Jim, Eddie and Cal. My favorite part was when the current team came out to shake hands with the HOFers with "Welcome Home" playing. Just a perfect way to end it by tying the past with the present.

The Orioles really outdid themselves and it's a night I'll never forget.

Awesome display from the organization.

Thanks for posting this. I'd rep ya but I've given out too much.

Oh ok. Well they were also on the 96-97 teams. It would have been nice to see Roberto Alomar...seems like he kind of stays out of the limelight though.

Mussina keeps a low profile as well. Alomar has a job in the Jays organization. I think some guys have jobs in other organizations (Rich Dauer? Harold Baines?) that might keep them tied down.

I am curious as to who got the biggest reception, was it Cal

Yes, it was, but we're splitting hairs. All of the legends that have statues received the biggest ovation by far. Boog, Dempsey, BJ and Brady also received loud ones.

Must say, I have been impressed with the way Miller has embraced the culture here. Can anyone see Lester going out there tonight and embracing everyone? Buck would have needed a cattle prod.

He was wearing red shorts, just saying!

And F. Robinson.

There was a nice interview in the pregame with Frank (and a bunch of the other guys). He said that he spent more time with the Reds than the Orioles, but that he's thought of as an Oriole, and what that says about Baltimore.
