Trading for Scherzer would be a very Lunhow-era Astros move, so it's definitely something to monitor. I have some questions on whether the defending WS champs will be selling at the end of the month. It's still a long ways away. They probably should, obviously, but there could be some pride there with not throwing in the towel and "showing faith" in a WS caliber roster, etc, etc. -

I like your analysis of Kevin Brown , lol. I don’t listen to announcers during Orioles/Ravens games. I rely on closed captioning . The stats on TV and my phone screens are helpful too -

When you consider that he was signed as a 16 year old with what I'm guessing would have been limited training and compare that to where he is now...I really would be hesitant to trade him. Imagine where he would be if he had the resources that a lot of the young draftees from the States had. There's a lot of talent in the top 10, but he will be moving up the list as the season goes on. -

Good hitting catchers with strong arms are hard to find. They give the teams that have them an edge. I don't expect Basallo in the majors until 2026. Look how long Elias kept Westburg and Mayo in the minors. Basallo needs time to work on his defense. 2026 will be the beginning of Adley's 5th year. By the end of 2026 Elias has to decide if he is going to extend Adley deep into his 30s or trade him. Basallo will have the 2026 season to learn from Adley. Sounds about right to be. I would not trade the edge that Basallo will give the O's going into the future. -

Crochet still is coming off Tommy John surgery, but he's still among the best pitchers that might be available at the deadline. Id be wiling to trade Norby, Stowers, and Urias for Crochet...but not Basallo.
