I don't agree with the mindset of sending out your best hitter and telling him to change his approach to buy 45 seconds for the pitcher.

Yeah I know. First pitch outs are momentum builders for pitchers. Had he hit a HR I would be singing a different tune.

So, factoring in the dark years, have to think someone is over 50.

It appears Steve Trachsel holds the modern record for most pitches by a single pitcher in one half inning. No, not with the Os. With the Cubs, 61 pitches in one half inning in a 1997 game.

Geez HOW LONG did that inning last? Wasnt he the slowest pitcher on earth?

Had to last at least an hour. 1 pitch per minute sounds about right for Trachsel.
