To be fair, Jones hit that ball pretty well. It was just hit right to Ellsbury. I do think that he should have been looking to take the first pitch, though.

The obvious counter-point would be that the pitcher would try and groove one over to reestablish his rhythm and that would be the best pitch to swing at in the at bat.
