Yeah I agree, it's kind of like when people complain about Davis and say, why doesn't he go opposite field or bunt more. Like asking why sharks don't mix up their diets with some salads.

I think the difference is it doesn't really serve Jones to get too overanxious and chase balls that seem certain to be sliders in the dirt. Then again when those balls hang, he makes his money.

I think there's something to be said for the mental approach to hitting and that sometimes a guy tries too hard and it screws him up. Whether or not that's actually something impacting Jones, I don't know. I only get the sense it might because he's an exceptionally emotional player. "Get the sense" is not a synonym for "evidence," though.

I'm sure there were 26 easily identifiable and potentially fixable flaws in Babe Ruth's game, too. I'd be very careful in modifying fundamental things about someone who's already in the top tiny fraction of 1% in his field. There's a lot more room to go down than up.
