  1. 1. Do you like the Davies for Parra trade?

    • I approve. A small price to pay to fix the O's OF hole with a quality veteran.
    • I disapprove. The O's gave up up a pitching prospect for a rental who won't move the needle.

It doesn't hurt and what is Davies going to do for us next year?

If we are serious we will be signing a FA SP better than Davies. If not who cares.

How about trading Davies in the offseason for someone who can actually help the team accomplish something? The 2015 team is toast.

I'm not one of the people pounding the table, saying how awful the trade is. I'm just being realistic and saying it's a silly move to make when the team isn't going anywhere.

You are aware that rosters expand in September, yes? And that it's typically a very good idea to have a good pinch hitter on your bench in a playoff push? And that Delmon could easily platoon with Paredes at DH?

So you carry him for a month and cut Pearce so you can have a pinch hitter in September? You're aware that Delmon Young is a terrible major league baseball player yes?

He's super valuable, which is why he already has another job...

I personally love this trade. I think people are overvaluing our own prospects and undervaluing Parra. I am not happy about the 2 month rental part, but I think he will be a significant upgrade and I don't think Davies is a huge price to pay. Especially when you look at the price others are paying out there right now. Also remember that we should have plenty of picks in the draft next year with all the FA leaving.

Would like to see DD make a couple more moves today if possible. If this is the only one, it doesn't look quite as good. We have a good history in the last two months of the season under Buck, so I think it is worth a shot to go for it this year.

@Buster_ESPN: The Orioles could still make a Yoenis Cespedes deal work, even after getting Gerardo Parra.

Now this though...

Let's give away everyone for rentals!!!

(Side note: I love Cespedes but scared what DD will give away. Knowing him: we trade Gausman for him)

He wants to devote a roster spot to a strict pinch hitter apparently. Smart.

He apparently also thinks Delmon should have a spot over Pearce. Also smart.

When is Pearce able to come back? The other day they said he wasn't ready to resume baseball activities. If this injury stretches out, why not bring in Delmon and then Pearce in September.

Though I don't see them giving up on Snider.

So we got Parra. Is DD done now? Or still working on moves? Sorry I'm on vacation but trying to stay updated.

Hunter is likely going to the Cubs.

Revere and Cespedes are in play.

Norris, Matusz, and Lough for Trout.

Because Delmon Young is a below replacement level player and won't help the team?

Our competition added multiple all stars

the O' add Parra

it was another worthless addition by DD with no upside, and we lose a ML ready pitcher who could have helped next year

DD has set us up nicely for a decade+ of losing seasons.

So that means you will be back to posting everyday?

LOL at all these teams asking for Gausman, Manny, and Schoop. There are what, 3 teams looking for COFs and several players available...and Tigers can't get a comp pick for Cespedes. Davies+ should be the value for Yoenis.

    • As long you’ve been a fan of the O’s, as impressive as Mayo’s offensive stats are, you have to know that those Minor League numbers do not carry a direct one-to-one correlation to the Bigs. Despite the gaudy numbers, there is no guarantee that he wouldn’t struggle initially with the O’s (like so many other recent prospects have). Is there any downside in allowing him to continue to work on his defense at AAA? Since that appears to be the area of his game that is not “big league ready”?
    • So am I reading those suggestions correctly? They think Mountcastle is either worth a Tier One Division One starter... or a Tier 2 Division 2 starter? I vote for the first 😉
    • So... innocently misreading a post is ban-worthy?
    • Posted this in another thread but a reminder of how Holliday views his leg kick:   https://blogs.fangraphs.com/jackson-holliday-talks-hitting/   Now maybe he’s wrong about the leg kick as he faces tougher pitching but I don’t see him dropping it anytime soon. I also don’t recall anyone being worried about it before.
    • He's definitely hit a wall. I think he needs another year.
    • Well he isn't exactly tearing it up since he got sent down.  I think he is something like 6 for 31 since?  Which makes him 8 for 70  (roughly) since his call up. Which is batting around .115 or so for the past month. He has obviously hit a level of talent that he is not handling all that well.  Considering his age, unless he really starts tearing it up?  I would be inclined to leave him down in AAA all year until the late season call ups.
    • Roy, man I love you as a sportscaster personality and more importantly as just a genuinely nice person.   I do. But this is why I said last week in the thread you made about how the O's would get blown out by the Yankees that you are saying things lately that don't seem to be making much sense and many other posters would be banned by now for the same things. And don't get me wrong.  I don't want you banned and I hope you keep posting for a long long time.  You are a true O's, albeit very emotional..FAN. But Roy, read the OP.  He clearly said those trade ideas were from a Red's message board. 2 times I believe. Cmonnnnnnnn man!   BTW as far as the actual trade ideas?  Laughable.  Not even being a homer.  But just laughable.
