Four Years

Four years!!

That's amazing.

I'm sure as soon as he leaves Baltimore he'll figure out whatever caused him to stink up the joint last year.

Eh. He's not as bad as he was with the Orioles, but he's not as good as he was before then either.

I'm more disappointed with the Lind news. Anyway something's supposed to happen today right? According to DD? Something?

Four Years

I'd be fine with a 4/1 deal. Oops, CBA probably requires at least 4/2.

It's astonishing. You have to assume that four years means at least $10M per year, you rarely see position players sign long-term for less. For a guy who's been worth half a win over his last 300 games. And I thought 2/15 was a reach. Even if you completely discount his cratering defensive metrics (which, based on observations from his time with the O's you shouldn't) he's no better than an average corner OF.

I don't think you should make that assumption.

He's probably looking at something like 3/21-24, and he's trying to get it up to 4/30-32.

We'll see I guess.

Somebody should tell me more how we should spend that O'Day money on an OFer cause we need one.

If he's as bad as he was w the O's he'll be out of the league in a year.

Regardless, he's not good.

I can't believe somebody would commit 3 years to him. Let alone 4.

Rule V's today, right? We'll be in on that.

Good news for the Davis reunion camp. One less team with a need it seems.

He says that every year. Last year,he had a deal but it fell through at the last minute for a pitcher. Then he said they worked on trades at the Winter Meetings and should get something done over the next week or so. This year could be different. We shall see.

You may be right on the contract. It's rare when you have a reliever who's more valuable than a starting outfielder.

I heard Niese is available .I don"t think he is that good. We shall see.

The Orioles have turned to the trade market to find a starting pitcher to replace Wei-Yin Chen, MLB.com’s Britt Ghiroli writes (Twitter links). They have “a few” standing offers out to teams in return for starting pitching. With Chen gone, the Orioles’ top four currently includes Chris Tillman, Miguel Gonzalez, Ubaldo Jimenez and Kevin Gausman, all four of them righties. Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reported this week that the team would prefer to add a lefty, although one option could be using lefty reliever Brian Matusz as a starter. “We’d be OK with five righties, but ideally we’d like to get some balance to our lineup and our rotation,” Orioles exec Dan Duquette said.

I think Niese would be good for us.
