TT: Something to consider when talking about Hyun Soo Kim

Just my opinion, but it seems to me that folks shouldn't be trying to prove MDtransplant wrong on so much stuff rather than just teaching the dude a little. No offense meant to anybody, but getting on the high horse and making a guy who clearly doesn't have the experience following the game feel bad should not be the way the OH goes about things.

FYI he's got a thick skin.

Trial by fire isn't bad. When it gets nasty, then I fire back. I'm not offended and I admit that I'm wrong. Sometimes a little tough love is good.

St. Louis is one. Any of the rebuilding teams, San Deigo, maybe Milwaukee if Carter is bad.

So a lot less than any?

I suggest next time you say something like "I think Walker makes a number of teams out of spring training."

That way us bullies won't give you such a hard time. ;)

Maybe there's a nicer way to say "no, 29 other teams most certainly wouldn't take an out-of-position Christian Walker north based on 30 good spring PAs."

I wouldn't think about playing him in Left. I meant as a 1Bman or as a DH. If you wanted him to play left, then he needs seasoning in Norfolk

Yeah, I didn't think about that. It's ok, but I should have elaborated

That's cool, and I'm not saying you can't handle yourself. Drungo and Corn both made me want to cancel my sub yesterday and I 've been here for years and years... so you probably have thicker skin than I do. I guess I don't get the tone sometimes - it seems unnecessary.

I think it's the big head that I got from my grandad, due to his stubbornness. I wear a 7 3/4ths. So yeah, large head

I'm brusque.

Sorry if it rubs you the wrong way but I don't feel a need to include a bunch of pleasantries.

I'd rather use two words than four paragraphs that mean the same thing.

Lets me maintain my high post count. :P

I was saying that I don't always agree with the tone that some of the veteran OHers use towards people when they disagree with a point. It can seem overly acerbic for reasons that I don't really understand. Clearly, though, you've got it under control. :) Just something I felt like I wanted to say on your behalf (and others).

I'll own acerbic.

I don't see it is necessarily a bad thing.

Speeds things along.

Why thank you. I thought you meant the tone of my post. Some people have bad days and take it out on people here. Stuff happens, and unless you directly insult me or my family or attack me or my family, I won't take it very seriously.

If it helps I sometimes regret being too over-the-top and blunt about topics crucial to the future of the planet, such as the correct mix of spring training information to consider when determining the O's 25th man.

The only people I want to cancel their subs I have on ignore because of their Cal-like streaks of willful ignorance and blind negativity. I think you know who they are, and you're definitely not them.

    • Where are you getting your stats from that's not correct looking at OPS.
    • On the O's this year, Martinez would have been: 5th in OPS 5th in AVG 6th in HRs in 120 games
    • I think PFF is grading Roquan badly because the safeties behind him are playing like ass and it's making him look bad.  If teams are going to attack him over the middle on crossing routes with WRs (like KC did with Rice) he doesn't really stand much of a chance if the safeties behind him don't throw him a bone.  He's still a huge help in the run game.   In general I think PFF assigns a little too much blame to linebackers on passes over the middle, so unless you're an elite coverage guy at LB it's really hard to grade well.  The flip side to this is that teams probably need to adjust their coverage areas to account for the fact that LBs aren't going to be able to hold down WRs for long.
    • Thanks. This tells me what my eyes have seen with Roquan. He's been a liability in coverage and the fact that Simpson is ahead of him is not good for our defensive leader. Do you have the PFF grades for offense too?
    • What you want is perfectly reasonable.  But you seem entirely to focused on money.  The team needs to work to improve.  I don't care what it costs, you shouldn't either.  They are going to spend money and payroll will be higher next year and the year after that.  We need them to make improvements and some of that is rightfully going to come from within and not cost much. The improvements that are needed are going to cost too, I'm not saying they wont.  But ownership and the GM should simply work in tandem to make sure the team has what it needs.  I am not really concerned about how much that costs because it should be able to be done without jumping this particular team into say top ten in payroll.
    • This is the right approach. the orioles should be spending more money and I believe they will, but I expect it to be measured with less risk (ie we won’t be handing out a Hader type deal or a  long term contract to Santander IMO) improving on some of the obvious weaknesses certainly makes sense.    1x SP: Burnes, Fried, Buehler 1x RH OF/DH: Martinez, O’Neill, Profar 1x 1B: (wishlist) Alonso, Walker
