It feels like the O's acquired a new pitcher via trade without giving up any prospects.

The decent pitching from Gallardo recently is a good development. I think I'm convinced now that we can win the division without acquiring a TOR starter, but we still need guys like Gallardo to keep us in games.

Jimenez has looked pretty good in his last 2 starts as well. I'd love to see a strong second half from both of them.

They did give a prospect up in the draft for him.

  I have a ton of respect for the old guard. Mullins, Santander, Hays, Urias, Mateo- Mountcastle-ish. I think they deserve the opportunity to be have the job taken from them and not pulled from them. These prospects need to come up and kick the door down and so far its clearly is not the current way.

  Yeah but at least he got a quiet hit this game his first of the year. I know there was a shift in 2020 and he was four years younger and this entire board had left him for dead as prospect, but the quiet hit was a big part of what kick started his career. Just saying.

  Baumann has talent. I’m slightly surprised they DFA’d him rather than optioning Akin, but this was the right move on merit. We’re a top 5 team with a top 10 bullpen (by some measures). Some other team is going to want our leftovers. Baumann is a guy who’s hugely frustrating but he’s also the type of guy for whom things could click into place. Some team will take a flyer on that.
