I don't know. But they have roster sizes too up until the Sept 1 call ups.

Wynns is one of my favorite players and was hoping to see him during one of the last home stands for Frederick.

I can see the reasoning. Anything to boost the offense. Joseph gets a chance to play consistently and get his bat going. Hard to believe that his bat fell off this year.

I really think we did a number to him having him be Ubaldo's personal catcher. Then not playing a lot. Then the terrible injury. Talk about a year to forget.

For the option gurus, does this count as an option since he will only be down there for 10 days? Having an option left for next year could be huge.

This X 1000. I like Caleb but he has a role and frankly he has been meh in it. Its not like he is killing it and being sent down. Really its just not to big a deal.

This has been a lost year for Caleb. He wasn't going well before the injury, but maybe he would've come around if not for that. Who knows. Hey, let him play every day in Norfolk, get AB's, and maybe he gets on track and can help them in September and October. Nothing to lose at this point.

I was in favor of sending Caleb down in one of the game threads so he can get a regular run of consistent at bats. Here's hoping he finds his groove down there and will be back up when it's call up time.

He is a backup catcher at best.Buck did not look happy when he broke the bat over his knee.Hopefully they get something better then Joseph next year.

The guy was worth 2.2 WAR last year. 11 HR's and 49 RBI. Only Davis, Machado and Jones had more RBI than him in 2015.

Catching Ubaldo must have taxed him mentally. No regular playing time, with MW getting all the AB's he wants. MW hogging all the AB's vs LHP. Just goes to show what can happen when a guy can't get into a rhythm. Pretty sure that's what these AB's an Norfolk are hoping to do.

Yeah, I disagree that he's a backup catcher. I was in favor of letting Wieters go and making Caleb the starter. I think he's better defensively and would put up comparable offensive numbers. His stats last year were very good, as sportsfan8703 showed. You could argue that they were a fluke I guess, but he's hit at every level. I tend to think this year was the fluke, but I guess we'll see.
