Even just use Britton to get through the middle of their order. Then bring in Baldo for the bottom half... oh well, doesn't matter now I guess.

It matters to talk about it.

Put your best bullets forward.

Jimenez is a box of chocolates. You know what you have early on.

He's always been an unmitigated disaster in relief.

Because his control sucks.

Why get cute at the top of the lineup?

Seriously.

Buck. This is all Buck.

Outmanaged.

I am at a loss for words. I left the sports bar and am not watching the press conference. Has anyone asked why he didnt walk him and bring in someone, maybe Britton? This isnt a hind sight thought, I thought that when Buck went to the mound, it was at the very least to give someone time to warm up and tell them to walk him. I am so effing pissed. and Reimold? Come on.This isnt on Jimenez, this is on Buck.

You know, searching through that Ubaldo vs. Tillman thread, there were a lot of votes for Ubaldo to start this game.

This one is a hard one to swallow but people bashing Buck and pretending they can manage better are deluding themselves.

Starting and relieving a game are two entirely different things and mindset for a pitcher. I would have started Tillman, but it wasn't fair to ask Ubaldo come in the game there. With Britton and Hunter in the bullpen. Also if Worley was on the roster he would have been another option.

I'm started to wanting to retract some of what I said. Please understand that I've been a ton of pain, my life quality is very very poor. So I'm much more prone to these type of things.

I still maintain that that was a horrendous move by Buck. Godawful!!! But it is a flawed team, Low OBP, High SO, High SLG% team with a mediocre rotation. The bullpen is great and Buck does a great job of keeping it going over the long haul. My problem is in the post season, espeically in one game elimination you cannot leave your best pitcher on the bench and pitch a freakin starter before him. You can't. Now.... I guess I'm willing to get behind Buck again.... but DD has gotta shore up the SP and the offense needs a little more diversity.

Crazy talk

It's not really. Take nothing away from what Buck has done for this team and organization, but not using Britton, leaving his starter's in too long and costing his team ball games are reasons why he never can win the big games or series.

I've been a big Buck supporter, and I think he's a great guy who cares, but there are other good people out there who might be able to take the team to next level.

I wouldn't have fault the O's for losing if Buck put Britton out there for 2 innings against the top of the lineup.

I do fault Buck for putting Ubaldo (who struggles to get control in the first) out there to save our season.

I also fault Duquette that Ubaldo was ever as decision. But I digress.

I strongly disagreed with Buck's decisions tonight.

I'm not prepared to return to the Sam Perlozzo/Dave Trembley days of ineffectual managers. Buck is insanely talented and a top five manager in the game. What he did was inexplicable, but it doesn't erase the fact that he has personally dragged this team to greater success than the sum of its parts over the last five years.

there is something of an argument to be made for that. we looked absolutely lost at the plate. we could have gone 20 innings without scoring a run.

Two different parts of the game and either Mancini or Stubbs is a better choice than Reimold. In any case, you don't leave good players on the bench for a single elimination game.

this is such an overreaction. sorry. but Buck is one of the best managers in the game. the fact that we made it this far with this roster? with this starting rotation? holy smokes.

let's all just get to bed, sleep on it, and if we still want to fire buck in the morning, fine.

to me, he was handed a very limited offensive roster and it got exposed.

he was holding Britton back for a close situation, and it didn't work out. it's not like the most insane, inexplicable thing that's ever happened in the history of ever.

yeah, it was weird to not bring in britton with two on... THAT i agree with. at that point, you have to pull out all the stops. but it was far from clear what inning Britton should have come in.

all these Hindsight 20/20 analysts, please let me know - what inning would you have brought Britton in? the 11th? how convenient. the opposing manager brought his closer in way earlier. i guess we could have done that. but the other manager also brought in his starter/reliever way sooner as well... and buck DID do that... i dunno.

i think Buck will survive not winning an 11-inning game in which we scored 2 runs. and he should.

to me, this loss really comes back to DD and the one-dimensional lineup he put together. not a lot of real bat skills in this lineup.

If Buck uses Britton for two innings and the team doesn't score and then they lose, you chalk it up to the Jays just winning. Losing without ever using your best pitcher in a tie game in extra innings in a one game playoff is indefensible.
