The AL East is currently the only division over .500

Just a strange fact I observed looking at the standings this morning. This despite Toronto having the worst record in MLB.

Total record of each division so far:

  • AL East: 73-66
  • AL Central: 67-67
  • AL West: 71-74
  • NL East: 66-70
  • NL Central: 70-70
  • NL West: 73-73

Obviously with three other divisions at .500 even, it's not exactly a sensational finding. But I do think it's telling that the AL East again looks to be the class of the league in the early going.

Update:  the AL East is 87-70, way ahead of every other division, though the NL Central is now also over .500

87-70 After being 73-66 when the topic was created?  So the division has gone 14-4 since then? Interesting.
