Great.    There was a lot of speculation about whether his stuff would play in AA.    It’s only one start, but so far, so good.

Honestly it looked just like most of his A+ starts. Despite being high on Lowther, I've been realistic about concerns whether the FB will play at the higher levels. Proving it in AA would go a long way for me.

I assume you mean it looked like most of his A/A+ starts.    Good news.  Let’s see if that continues.

I continue to root for Lowther (first syllable rhymes with 'cow', often mistakenly pronounced like opposite of 'high').  He's a perfect example of being able to have success without a blazing fastball.  I was able to talk to him on multiple occasions at Aberdeen when he was charting pitches on his offdays.  He's incredibly cerebral.  He knows what he wants to do on the mound, and it's very much a game of wits for him....which he usually wins.  Amazing makeup for his age. 

When he was drafted, I remember many folks saying he stuff won't play at the higher levels because fastball rarely registers above 90 MPH.  He  really maximizes the tools that he does have.  I couldn't be happier for him and I expect him to have continued success at Bowie and beyond.

90 for a LH isnt really that bad is it. Even RH can throw 90 if they have pinpoint command.

2 ER in just 4 IP with 5 walks and only 2 k's.

Pretty good outing for Lowther today: 5.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K’s.    I’d prefer to see fewer walks and pitches per inning (89 in 5.1 tonight), but still a nice performance.    And the Baysox had a 4-0 win.

BTW, I haven't got a good read on his 2019 velocity yet, but he touched 94 last year, it's usually in the low 90s, he doesn't live in the 80s, maybe a 89 here and there. It's average LH SP velocity. He's not Wells, he's has at least a full grade on Wells on the FB and breaking ball. 

Edit: Looking at my notes was sitting 89-90 in April last year, but was where I initially stated after that.

I would guess he's leaving the team for personal reasons/bereavement.  But maybe.  Not sure exactly why Lowther would be on a strict innings limit.
