It has to be close, he was still a full step and a half from the bag.

I think Rafael Furcal had an unassisted triple play that by the nature of it being unassisted, had the guy out by a lot.

Your simplest, most basic 5-4-3.   Hard grounder right to Manny and he was playing pretty close to the line.   Easily fielded , took two steps, stepped on the base, fired to Schoop, on to first.   Wasn't even close at first.

The Orioles had a triple play that was almost identical to the one in Boston, started by Melvin Mora against Cleveland. A pop-up, the ump didn't call the infield fly rule, and Mora knew what to do.
