Ed Reed's chances were based on gut instinct honed by countless hours of watching film and studying tendencies and he was right a lot higher percentage of the time than Villar.

(Except for his tendency to try to lateral to someone when he was getting tackled on a return!   Those were bad decisions even when they worked out).

Couldn't get agree more!  Especially on the laterals!  Also, it probably is more like high risk, medium reward for Villar.

Does Hunter always get so excited when there are more than 5 pitches to any one batter?

You're talking about a guy who one said excitingly "This ball is trouble!" when one of our guys hit a ball towards the gap when we were down 8 runs with the bases empty.

Any at bat by an all-star is by it's very nature an all-star at bat.

An at bat by a non all-star by it's very nature can not be an all-star at bat.

That’s just like gold glove caliber!
