This is stupid. People acting like it's the final game that the Yankees will ever play.

No kidding. I know other teams don't have the history of the Yankees (and I do respect that they have a seriously crazy history) but this isn't the first time a stadium has been closed so that the team can have a new one and it's not even the only team in NY getting a new stadium! Ridiculous fanfare over a building. Are we going to be subjected to this sort of thing again if they ever get rid of Wrigley or Fenway?!:eek::eek:

It's the last game in a stadium that has arguably seen more important games and great players than any other stadium in history.

I thought the Jeter curtain call was classy. If, say, the Cubs were playing their last game in Wrigley, it would be a different story to everyone.

Look, the point is, there may never be another stadium that sees 39 World Series again. IMO, as a fan of the game of baseball, it's really sad that they're just gonna abandon the stadium like that, but I guess that's the economics of the year 2008 MLB baseball.

And by the way, I thought that was pretty classy how BRob gave Rivera and other MFY's around a pat on the back.

I really don't want Brian to make the final out in Stankee Stadium. :(

I feel bad for the Orioles having to put up with all this spectacle this weekend. This has to be the most distracting stuff they've every had around them when they're simply there to play their last series with the Stankees.

Pure Class that Brian Roberts is..He shakes some Yankees hands after the game!!!

I only wish some of our fans were as classy as him.

Well done B Rob.

I really didn't want Brian to make the last out either, but now that it's over I think it's a good thing the last out was made by a player who has such a strong appreciation for the history of the place and respect for the game. Also, if anybody ever asks me in a trivia game who made the last out at Yankee Stadium, I'll have no trouble remembering. :D

That's a very good point. I won't have trouble remembering either, LOL ;)

I would like to think that if I were born in the Bronx to a family of die-hard Yankee fans, I would find it within myself to pick another team to root for. Rooting for the Yankees is like walking into a casino and rooting for the house. It's like seeing a movie and pulling for the rich and powerful villain to crush the humble and likable hero. I can't imagine it.
